Can I throw a Welcome Home baby party for my Sister In Law? She is due on May 1st.?

We are not close at all but I would like to do this to show her I would like a sisterly relationship with her. Should I talk to her about it? I am afraid if I do then she will say no and do it herself. Then it would feel ackward. I was thinking of having the party at her house if she agreed and I would do all the work. But How do I even ask her this. SHe seems to be very snotty to me all the time. I wish she would cool it because I have never done anything to her.
But then again she has never done anything nice for me so should I even throw her a party?

I think that's a wonderful idea! You say she seems very snotty and has never done anything nice for you. Well that is all the more reason you can feel good about doing this. Hopefully she will respond with a softened heart toward you and the "sisterly relationship" you're hoping for can begin to grow. Even if she does not respond gracefully, you can "kill 'em with kindness", so to speak. Continue to offer, respectfully, your friendship to her. Don't step on her toes but never let her forget that you want to get along with her. I think that your welcoming your new niece or nephew into the world by celebrating her pregnancy will definitely turn out to be for the best.

EDIT - I thought you meant a baby shower. As others have said, don't spring this on her the moment she gets home post-labour, from the hospital. Do it as a baby shower instead. If she's already had a baby shower, wait for something more appropriate to come up. Or wait a few weeks after she's come home.
